There are a total of 16 Mayan Stelae in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Whenever you spot one of these pillars, climb on top of it and use the synchronize command to start a mini-puzzle of sorts. Your goal is to rotate and scale the glowing outlines to match the objects on the ground, such as rocks and fallen debris.

Note: Several of these areas also happen to have Treasure Maps that lead to buried chests.

Mayan Stelae locations - Northern Caribbean

Due to the sheer size of this open-world game, we’ve opted to divide the map into north and south. The image below shows the locations of the Mayan Stelae in the northern part of the Caribbean.

Northern Mayan Stele #1 - Great Inagua

You discover your first Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Mayan Stelae as part of the main story. There’s a moment during Sequence 04: This Old Cove where James Kidd brings you to the forests of Great Inagua. Climb up the pillar and rotate the glowing outline so that it matches the objects as shown in the image below. A cutscene will then play where you receive your first Mayan Stone.

A bit later in the campaign, specifically during Sequence 04: Overrun and Outnumbered, Kidd will lead you to the Assassin Brotherhood stronghold of Tulum. There, you’ll see the large doorway blocking the inner recesses of the temple. Kidd tells you that you need to find the other Mayan Stones to gain entry. This kickstarts the Mayan Mysteries quest proper.

Northern Mayan Stele #2 - Cat Island

• Coordinates: 703,670
• Tip: The monolith is near the beach in the northwestern part of the island. Don’t forget to play with the cats, because we all know that cats are awesome. Oh, and you can even acquire cats as pets, too.

Northern Mayan Stele #3 - Matanzas

• Coordinates: 311,617
• Tip: The stele is in the wooded area past the warehouse. When solving the puzzle, note that the singular large circle should match the base of the tree.

Northern Mayan Stele #4 - Cape Bonavista

• Coordinates: 159,584
• Tip: This is the area where you first started the campaign. From the fast travel point, head back to the village and climb up the ledges. You should find a Treasure Map just before the clearing with the pillar.

Northern Mayan Stele #5 - Sacrifice Island

• Coordinates: 18,548
• Tip: This column happens to be right next to a fast travel point/sync viewpoint that’s overlooking the coast where the Jackdaw is docked.

Northern Mayan Stelae #6 and 7 - Pinos Isle

• Coordinates: 303,452 and 311,454
• Tip: There are two Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Mayan Stelae in this particular area.
  • The first is in the courtyard. The five circles represent the pillars, and the rectangle represents the fallen block.
  • The second is down by the beach. The two circles represent the stones, and the rectangle represents the fallen block.

Mayan Stelae locations - Southern Caribbean

The map below shows the locations of even more Mayan Stelae in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. These are in the southern part of the Caribbean.

Southern Mayan Stele #1 - Tulum

• Coordinates: 30,382
• Tip: This monolith is at the western corner of the stronghold.

Southern Mayan Stele #2 - Santanillas

• Coordinates: 187,221
• Tip: The puzzle is in the sandy area near the northern part of the island.

Southern Mayan Stelae #3 and 4 - Misteriosa

• Coordinates: 265,171 and 273,175
• Tip: You can find a couple of Mayan Stelae in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced if you head to Misteriosa.
  • One is close to the shore. The puzzle has two circles for the blocks that are jutting out, and two inverted L outlines for the columns.
  • The other is at the back of the temple. There’s a Treasure Map that’s nearby, too.

Southern Mayan Stele #5 - New Bone

• Coordinates: 400,92
• Tip: New Bone is actually held by the British, so you have to eliminate a few ships and soldiers before you can dock. The warehouse here can be plundered if you steal the key from an officer. It just so happens that the officer is right next to the stele.

Southern Mayan Stelae #6 and 7 - Isla Providencia

• Coordinates: 485,25 and 486,22
• Tip: Both stelae are in close proximity to the northernmost fast travel point/sync viewpoint.

Southern Mayan Stele #8 - Long Bay

• Coordinates: 502,216
• Tip: The stele is off to the side of the entrance to the Observatory.

Southern Mayan Stele #9 - Tortuga

• Coordinates: 846,352
• Tip: The pillar is by the beach close to the boat that allows you to fast travel back to the Jackdaw.

Mayan Mysteries rewards: Mayan Outfit and Yax Tun Pendant

After acquiring all 16 Mayan Stones, it’s time to head back to the Assassin stronghold in Tulum. Return to the ancient door and interact with it to open a pathway. Once inside, you need to do a bit of platforming to reach the raised tower in the middle. There, you’ll receive a couple of goodies:

• Mayan Outfit (legendary outfit) - Just a cosmetic attire. It has no gameplay effect.
• Yax Tun Pendant (legendary trinket) - All gunshots are mysteriously absorbed.
