As a commerce editor at IGN, I’ve been on the lookout for the best possible deal on Grand Theft Auto 6 — almost certainly the biggest game of the year. Since no retailer is offering a direct discount on GTA 6, the best way I’ve found to save money on it is to buy a PlayStation or Xbox gift card when it’s discounted at Newegg.
Today only, Newegg has the best deal I’ve seen yet on a $100 PlayStation gift card. If you enter promo code GTWF2793 at checkout, you’ll save $15 — meaning you get $100 of PlayStation credit for $85. That’s enough to buy you the Ultimate Edition of Grand Theft Auto 6, the edition most people are preordering.

This is almost certainly the biggest discount we’ll see on gift cards ahead of GTA 6's November 19 launch, and thus the best deal available. In other words: if you want the Ultimate Edition of GTA 6 and you want the best deal possible, now is the time to buy.
Once you buy the gift card (making double sure to use the promo code to get the deal), you should receive a code via email within an hour (I just did it, and my code came six minutes after I placed the order). You can redeem this code at the PlayStation Store for $100 in credit. To do so, just make sure you're signed in, and click your avatar in the upper right corner of the page. That will open a dropdown menu with the option "Redeem Code," where you can paste your code.
Now that you have your funds, head to the Grand Theft Auto 6 page (your choice of standard edition or ultimate edition) and preorder the game. Then you’re all set.

What do you get with the ultimate edition? To quote Rockstar, it includes “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.” Here's a full rundown.
While you can’t play the game until it comes out on November 19, you’ll be able to pre-load it onto your PS5 starting on November 12. That gives you a week to download it ahead of launch, so you don’t have to worry about slow network speeds once the game is available. Then, once November 19 rolls around, the game will unlock and you’ll be able to play the biggest game of the year.
If you'd rather have a physical copy, that's cool – but I don't expect any deals or discounts to be available anywhere on physical copies. It's also worth noting that Grand Theft Auto 6 is only available in digital form. While Rockstar will sell you a “physical copy” (see it at Amazon), all you actually get is a game box with a download code in it. No discs for the game are being printed. So if you do want to save $15, this deal on PlayStation Store credit is the one to buy.
