GTA 6 is confirmed to have an "advanced" weather system, leading many to wonder if we're going to get tropical storms.

Game Informer has confirmed that GTA 6 will be the magazine's cover story this month and as a result, it will feature a treasure trove of new details about the game. The 14-page story will feature exclusive interviews and screenshots and while we're still waiting to find out all the specifics, Game Informer did confirm it will dive into the game's "advanced weather systems that simulate Florida’s less sunny weather phenomena."

Although we'll have to wait to learn more about what that means, this tidbit has resulted in a flurry of speculation. GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional version of Florida, which has many wondering if there will be intense weather systems such as hurricanes. Game Informer's tease suggests that Rockstar is finally going to reveal the limits of its weather system, but one has to imagine it will go further than previous Rockstar titles.

GTA 6 is a technically ambitious game, but having something like a hurricane outside of a scripted event or mission seems like a daunting task for the developers. It could change the map, create unique gameplay obstacles, and really stir things up in complex ways. Up until now, Rockstar has been cagey when asked about its plans for weather. It's possible the studio was still trying to finetune these systems before saying anything, as to avoid getting anyone's hopes up, but hopefully it has designed something that goes beyond a simple rain shower.

Red Dead Redemption 2 had some pretty intense storms which featured intimidating lightning and thunder, big gusts of wind, and spooky dark clouds. The game also featured snow and dust storms in relevant parts of the map. It's unlikely we'll see either of those return in a parody of the sunshine state, but it's clear that Rockstar likes to create dynamic circumstances to make the world feel more alive and potentially add more challenges.

Game Informer's story goes live tomorrow, September 29, so we'll be able to mull over all of the details soon. However, there are no shortage of details about GTA 6's in IGN's own preview of the game from earlier this summer. It's unclear if or when we'll get another trailer for the game, but hopefully, it won't be too much longer.
