Vtuber Hololive mengatakan game ritme baru di Steam ternyata sangat setia pada persona mereka karena suatu alasan: 'Kami sangat terlibat dengan naskah dan dialog'

Although Steam has a handful of Hololive vtuber games already—that is, games featuring members of the popular vtuber agency—none of them are as comprehensive as Hololive Dreams. A rhythm game with a huge list of collectible characters to meet, Hololive Dreams is the closest thing we're getting to a vtuber theme park—at least until someone builds one in real life.

It's also a pretty good starting point for anyone who has only tangentially heard about Hololive, one of the biggest vtuber agencies around. The game offers more than 150 songs to play, some of which are covers of tracks from artists like Babymetal. All the biggest hits are in there, with more coming in the future.

You can also watch a bunch of vtubers run around the island theme park and interact with each other, sort of like Tomodachi Life. According to Shiori Novella, one of Hololive's vtuber talents, the mini vtubers are accurate reflections of their real personas. "We had tons of involvement with the script and dialogue," she told PC Gamer in a recent interview, "so it's all tailored to our preferences."

"I got to do lines for character greetings, SSR cards based on the theme of it, and even GRUNTING!" she said. "I made a lot of squeaks, giggles, and other noises which was kind of funny to do without context."

My feeds have had clips of Hololive Dream vtubers inexplicably walking on power lines or being knocked unconscious by falling apples for the past few weeks. There are so many bizarre or funny interactions they can have that it's easy to forget there's a whole rhythm game in there. And, of course, people are already showing off clips of that, too.

There are songs in Hololive Dreams that you might've heard without realizing it was sung by a vtuber. Hoshimachi Suisei's Stellar Stellar is one big example: It blew up after she performed it live for popular Japanese YouTube music channel The First Take a few years ago.

Not everyone has time to watch vtuber streams, but Hololive Dreams seems like a neat way to get a sense of what the hype is about, even if you're just someone who plays every rhythm game they can get their hands on.

I suspect Hololive Dreams is just the first of many vtuber games coming to Steam. Hololive has licensed indie projects like the Vampire Survivors-inspired Holocure (which is great) under its name, but Hololive Dreams is something it published directly. With its parent company Cover Corp recently expanding into the US, I wouldn't be surprised if we're going to see a wider variety of official games coming out in the next few years.

Shiori, who helped write a Hololive visual novel in the past, says she'd love to work on more games and teased that there's something along those lines coming soon. "Can't spoil anything right now, but it's a cool project so please stay tuned for a surprise on my debut anniversary [stream]."
