How To Get Minior In Pokemon Go

A new Pokemon is landing soon in Pokemon Go. The meteorite Minior is making their debut in the mobile game beginning October 19, but you won't encounter them like a typical Pokemon.
Rather than periodically spawning in the wild, Minior's appearance is fittingly tied to meteor showers. The celestial Pokemon will only spawn on certain evenings when a real-world meteor shower is taking place, so you'll need to fire up the game on specific nights if you want to catch a glimpse of the new monster.
To help you add the falling star to your collection, here are some tips on how to catch Minior, including a schedule of upcoming meteor showers, how to change Minior's form, and whether the meteorite Pokemon can be shiny.
How To Get Minior
Minior is a little different from other common Pokemon in that they won't just randomly spawn in the wild; you'll only have a chance to encounter one on evenings when a meteor shower is taking place.
During these specific nights, Minior will spawn on the map between 5 PM and 11:59 PM local time. From there, it's simply a matter of waiting for one to appear, then tapping on them to initiate a catch encounter. You can increase your odds of successfully catching the Pokemon by first feeding them a Razz Berry.

Minior Shower Schedule
Minior will appear in the wild during the following meteor showers:
Orionids
- October 19
- 5-11:59 PM local time
Leonids
- November 14
- 5-11:59 PM local time
Geminids
- December 11
- 5-11:59 PM local time
- One Minior color will debut in the Northern Hemisphere, and another color will debut in the Southern Hemisphere
Eta Aquariids
- May 3
- 5-11:59 PM local time
Southern Delta Aquariids
- July 28
- 5-11:59 PM local time
Perseids
- August 10
- 5-11:59 PM local time
According to the official Pokemon Go website, a different Minior core color will debut during each of the aforementioned events, so you'll need to play the game during every meteor shower if you're hoping to add all seven core colors to your collection.
A couple of bonuses will also be available during the meteor shower events. You'll receive extra Stardust for catching Minior, and you'll see shooting stars streaking across the in-game sky from 5-9 PM local time. The game will also offer a free Timed Research that rewards you with a Star Piece and additional Stardust when completed.
How To Change Minior's Form
Minior doesn't evolve into any other Pokemon, but the meteorite Pokemon does come in several different variants.
Every Minior you encounter will initially be in Meteor Form, with the same brown outer shell. Once the Pokemon sustains enough damage during battle and their HP drops below 50 percent, their shell will break to reveal a different colored core.
There are seven core colors in total, one for every hue of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. One core color will debut during each meteor shower.
Can Minior Be Shiny?
At the moment, shiny Minior is not yet available in Pokemon Go. Shiny variants are typically introduced several months after a Pokemon first makes their debut, so shiny Minior may arrive down the line as part of some future event. However, nothing has been announced yet.
We're coming up on the end of October, but Pokemon Go still has a few events lined up for this month, including its annual Halloween celebration. You can see everything going on in the mobile game over the next few days in our October events roundup.
