Renown is one of two stats needed to recruit new team members in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. While the Support Level requirements never go above level 3, you may be intimidated by characters who require level 10 Renown. It's vitally important to note that gaining Renown will take a lot of time. Unlike the Support Levels, each Flame Lord's campaign builds their Renown separately. This requires patience so you don't get blindsided. Seeking a short-term Renown boost may risk potentially sacrificing other rewards that are far more important.

While our Gifts Guide covers the basics of wooing each NPC to your cause, you'll still need to gain a ton of Renown to get the best characters to join your ranks. Complete main story battles

The biggest chunk of your renown you can gain comes naturally from finishing the main battles. If they take place in the arena, you'll gain at least 500 or so points. Obviously, this method alone won't get you all the way to rank 10, but if you have exhausted all other methods and run out of time, it may be reassuring to know that you'll get a significant boost for the next chapter.

Use your Flame Lord's exclusive Renown-gaining method

Each of the four Flame Lords (main characters) whose story you follow in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave has their own method of getting Renown. This is the primary way to reach higher Renown ranks, shifting the focus of free time periods to suit each Flame Lord's strengths.

Cai's is by far the simplest to understand. In addition to the subquests, some people in Dagsion have a pin with a hand above their heads. These are his Kindness Quests and only require you to head to the designated location, either in Dagsion or on the World Map, and accomplish the objective.

Dietrich has two ways to gain Renown, and both involve tons of fighting. The first is using the Answerer's Cry to make enemies appear for two turns. Consecutive summoning of foes with the Answerer on the world map gradually reduces its range, which recovers slowly each turn you don't use it or instantly if you enter or exit a base or explore a dungeon. Defeating enemies this way gives you a small amount of Renown and Echo Shards to bolster Combat Arts. You can also fight Dread Warriors in dungeons by accepting challenges the Headhunter in Dagsion gives you, for a larger amount of Renown, as well as learn new Combat Arts.

Theodora has Supply Quests, which give you a quota of materials to gather and turn in at Bonaventure. To complete these, recruit a healthy number of battalions and assign them to gather the smaller numbers in each quest. Every space on the World Map with an icon lists all obtainable resources, so make sure you've got the right place for each one on your shopping list. Theodora can also search spaces or explore dungeons for more resources, and even if you defeat all enemies and loot all chests, materials in dungeons respawn with every entry.

Finally, Leda has Perform Quests, which are relatively similar to Dietrich's location-based quests. However, instead of fighting strong foes in the middle of dungeons to gain renown and learn new Combat Arts, she performs dances in taverns to earn renown and Blaze Arts, while performances outside of Dagsion may reveal secret spots on the map that have rare materials.

Complete subquests and meet the gods at temples

In Dagsion, there are a couple more ways that are universally available but yield a very small amount of Renown. Subquests are probably worth knocking these out anyway, as they give other rewards besides Renown, but this is a relatively minor way compared to the others.

One important caveat you need to know is that you technically only need to finish a subquest once with any of the four Flame Lords, provided you start the next campaign from the very beginning. As soon as you enter your first free time, you'll get all the Renown for finishing side quests instantly. However, if you swap campaigns mid-flow, you won't, and you need to manually complete them again.

If a temple on your in-game map in Dagsion glows yellow, remember to visit it before leaving. Visiting these temples allows you to seek an audience with that temple's god for a small renown gain. You can meet with a temple god once a week.

Complete Paralogues when they appear

These side stories give 20,000 gold, a unique item, and 150 Renown when you finish them, but they also have story implications and may also be required to recruit specific characters. Not all Flame Lords can participate in a Paralogue, mostly because the NPCs you need to talk to in order to start them are ones that aren't recruitable by those characters. For example, Cai can't do his own Paralogue as he can't talk to himself.

Renown level rewards

For each Renown rank you gain, you not only get the opportunity to recruit new characters, but you also get a new function or two. Both Cai and Theodora also get unique boosts linked to their character development, such as Cai's Mentoring and farming boosts, while Theodora gets buffs to recruiting Battalions.
