Magic: The Gathering at NYCC Live Blog – Bersiaplah untuk Darkhold Destiny

Earlier this year at MagicCon in Las Vegas, Wizards of the Coast revealed its in-universe sets for 2027, but that only covered three of the six planned sets. The other three are Universes Beyond — the card game's crossover brand — and now we know about another one, Darkhold Destiny, the new Marvel set.

Wizards of the Coast and Marvel teased Darkhold Destiny in a YouTube video, and while we still don't know what cards or mechanics are in the set, I've seen some of the art, and it looks incredible, and a much better fit for Magic's aesthetic. Hopefully, in the MTG panel at NYCC, they'll dive into more detail on what the set actually is.

Unfortunately the panel will not be streamed, but I'll be there live, reporting all the details on what Wizards of the Coast and Marvel have been cooking up since the Marvel Superheroes set back in June. The two Marvel UB sets have been mixed, with the Spider-Man set being a major let down, while Marvel Superheroes had a ton of great cards and a fun limited environment. Let's just hope Darkhold Destiny is a much better set. But from the early art in the teaser, I'm starting to get my hopes up.

The panel starts at 7:45 pm ET / 4:45 pm PT, so we at least won't have to wait long to see what's in store.

All times are in EST

7:17 pm: Got to the panel, and it looks like they opened the doors early! The room is absolutely packed, and people seem excited to see more of Darkhold Destiny. We've got about 30 mintues to go before the show kicks off.

6:15 pm: I'm about to head over to the panel, but it looks like Wizards of the Coast has already announced the new set on YouTube. It's Darkhold Destiny, and it looks like a completely original take on Marvel. None of the cards or mechanics have been announced, but this fits Magic's world much better than Spider-Man or Marvel Superheroes did.
