The lowest price that Resident Evil Village, with all of its DLC included, has reached is $14.99 on Steam. Considering it’s one of the best horror games in the world, let alone the franchise itself, that’s already a steal. In fact, I’d be recommending it heavily at that price, but what if I told you that you could get it even cheaper? What if I said you could effectively get an extra game too, while paying less? Well, that’s the deal today.

Even if you haven’t played the rest of the series, Resident Evil Village is a blueprint for how to make a fantastic survival horror game. You play as Ethan, who, fresh off the events of Resident Evil 7, seems to be living a somewhat cozy life. Good for him, at least, until Chris Redfield (a familiar face for fans) bursts into his home, kills his wife, and then forces Ethan and his daughter, Rose, into a car. Then the car crashes. Then it turns out they’re in a spooky European village, and his daughter has been kidnapped. So, not as cozy as he had hoped.

In a series full of monsters made from bioweapons and, with the events of Village, giant vampire ladies and werewolves, you can probably expect that the game doesn’t exactly make it easy to get Ethan’s daughter back. Supplies are limited, so every bullet counts, and it also contains one of the scariest sequences I’ve ever played in a horror game. Considering that list is huge, I can tell you that’s a big, huge compliment. Honestly, it’s dread-inducing.

There’s also the excellent DLC story, which takes place after the events of the main narrative. Without spoiling anything, it gives us a closer look at a certain character’s life following what happened in Village, while also adding new gameplay and a third-person perspective to the main campaign. It’s a solid expansion, and one of the best post-launch additions the series has received.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is just one of the Steam games that can be bought with Fanatical’s Mega Capcom Bundle, which starts at two games for $12.99 / £12.99 (but the more you buy, the cheaper each gets). So, technically, you’re getting an extra game for free, and there are some brilliant choices here. You could stick with the horror vibes by getting additional Resident Evil games, like the 2 and 3 REmakes, or go with Devil May Cry 5 with the Vergil DLC. I’d strongly recommend the latter, which is one of my favorite action games of all time. Seriously.

So, if you’ve been looking to get into the horror spirit over Halloween, well, this Resident Evil Village deal has come at a frighteningly brilliant time.
