Teaser Film Street Fighter Baru Menghidupkan Serangan Elektrik Blanka

It's a good time to be a fan of video game movies based on Capcom's IP, as both live-action Resident Evil and Street Fighter films are on the way. While we've seen plenty of director Zach Cregger's spin on the survival-horror series, Street Fighter has been mostly radio silent since its last trailer dropped--until today, that is. A new preview for the movie just dropped, showcasing an electrifying tussle between fan-favorite characters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and a CGI homonculus of Blanka (Jason Momoa).

While it's a brief clip--that also features M. Bison (Dustin Dalmachian) as the sinister mastermind of the fight--eagle-eyed fans will spot several references to the game in the moveset that Blanka uses to attack an incarcerated Ryu with. From his signature electrocution powers that turn one convict into a living X-Ray, a cannonball roll that wrecks part of the facility, and a dropkick that comes straight out of classic Street Fighter, Blanka has no shortage of moves.

The character also looks and sounds massively different compared to the previous live-action incarnation from the 1994 Street Fighter movie. While that version of Blanka was portrayed as a sympathetic monster--with actor Robert Mammone decked out in a ton of green bodypaint and facial prosthetics--Momoa's take on the character comes off as feral, quippy, and more than happy to cause some pain. That's not to say that Ryu is outgunned, as the teaser ends with a brief flash of his Hadouken fireball, which looks incredibly destructive.

Taking place in 1993, Street Fighter follows Ken (Noah Centineo), Chun-Li (Callina Lung), and Ryu as they join their fellow brawlers in the World Warrior Tournament that M. Bison is hosting. The movie features a stacked cast, with several other fan-favorite Street Fighter characters like Akuma, Dhalsim, Cammy, Vega, E. Honda, and Zangief all being portrayed by a diverse roster of actors. Street Fighter hits theaters on October 16, 2026.
