Most video games encourage you to keep trying. Even when all seems lost or when a challenge feels insurmountable, every failure is just part of the learning curve. But The Blood of Dawnwalker, from developer Rebel Wolves and publisher Bandai Namco, eschews that age-old mantra. Instead, it has a joke ending where you simply give up on the campaign and leave the game world forever.

How to leave Vale Sangora in The Blood of Dawnwalker

You can leave Vale Sangora in The Blood of Dawnwalker as soon as you’re done with the prologue. When you’re ready, simply make your way from Laslea Glen to the western edge of the map. Just past the woods in Briar Sloughs, you’ll see an aptly named Shrine called the Coward’s Path.

Travel along the road and you’ll stumble upon a side quest known as The Cursed Chasm. There, you’ll spot a broken bridge and a ravine. If you look across the gap, you’ll notice that the road continues all the way to a large gate that hasn’t been blockaded yet.

To get this joke ending in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you have to reach the gate at the end of the path. But, before you could do that, you have to get across the chasm first:

• Make sure it’s nighttime so that Coen turns into a vampire.
• Jump across and spam the Shadowstep button so you can latch on a rock at the opposite side.
• Then, with a combination of Planeshift and Shadowstep, climb to the other side of the ravine.
• When you approach the gate, pick [Leave the valley forever].

From hero to zero

Coen will admit that he has to find a new home and make a new life for himself. He won’t rescue his family anymore and he’ll leave the rest of the region under the rule of the vampire boyars. The credits will then play, though you’ll also see a quick epilogue that sets up a potential sequel. This whole sequence then nets you an achievement called "A Hero They Deserve."
