There were rumours over the weekend that Playground Games' Fable had been internally delayed and could potentially slip into 2027 to avoid clashing with GTA 6. However, the developer has seemingly extinguished these rumours by stating Fable will still release this autumn. Read more
PC"This is the most reasonable and wise thing to do": survival shooter Road to Vostok's dev plans to recharge a bit before tackling fixes and larger updates
Finnish survivashooter Road to Vostok has fared very well since wandering out of the early access gates last week, and its solo developer Antti Leinonen's now turning his thoughts towards how he'll build on that going forwards. However, he's keen not to rush into any fixes or work on overhauls/additions, instead taking some time to get back to 100% following what sounds like an intense push to this initial build. Read more
ConsolePragmata review
The human brain is divided into two hemispheres; the left brain and the right brain. To put it unscientifically and very simply, the left hemisphere manages language and logic, and the right hemisphere specialises in spatial awareness and intuition. I have long been an advocate of video games for activating both sides of the brain: engaging creatively with problem-solving and applying logic whilst also using your hands to dexterously and precisely engage with a platform has been proven to encour

As you may well know, Edwin has been devoured by The Maw more than once in his time as news editor. Though you cant say he's not learned from the experience of being a digestee. Knowing that The Maw becomes particularly agitated in weeks stuffed with new releases, I suspect he saw the bloated Steam Upcoming chart and hastily booked his holiday, leaving us to wrangle the beast. PCStop Killing Games throw weight behind California bill that would force companies to either keep games working independently after server shutdowns or issue refunds
Stop Killing Games, the campaign group seeking to prevent online games being rendered unplayable when publishers shut down their servers, have moved to support a Californian bill that in its current form would require studios to either update games with impending server shutterings to they keep working independently aftwards or provide full refunds. The movement also claim their UK efforts are "far from dead in the water", noting they were called in to advise the Department for Culture, Media &
Console"Players always get through them faster than we think" - inside Bungie's big Marathon ARG
There was this wonderful energy around Marathon a few weeks ago. Not unusual for a brand-new release, sure, but altogether different than the usual hype-laden first impressions. No, this had the unmistakable feeling of a treasure hunt, a community-wide push to unlock something tangible: the Cryo Archive map. All they had to do was solve one measly alternate reality game (ARG). How hard could it be? Read more

MobileBlack & White at 25: how Lionhead's harebrained, stoner-powered game design became the harbinger of modern AI
Your disembodied hand trembles with raw power. It can raze forests, summon storms, and dedicate villagers to single tasks for their entirety of their humble lives: fishing, for example, or the most profound act of all - procreation (fine, shagging). But in Black & White, which recently turned 25-years-old, your divine command of mind and matter does not extend to the capricious creature roaming the grassy land below. This pesky being may be your godly will made flesh, but they're liable to disse
PCThe Pines asks what would Alan Wake look like if it was about therapy, and I kind of want to know the answer
Therapy is not the cure all that many like to make it out to be, but that doesn't mean your favourite gruff fictional detective couldn't still do it. This is, sort of, what The Pines is about, a game that if you squint real hard could probably pass for Alan Wake. The vibes are certainly similar, especially with Alan Wake 2, given that The Pines sees its protagonist finding himself in a strange, wooded (sort of) town, but it's got enough of its own thing going on to pique my interest.
